Starting 1976 the sketchbook drawings of Stanley Tigerman will be on exhibition. After visiting the first Architecture Biennale in Venice, Tigerman began a series of travel sketches that continue to this day. Presented along side his Travel sketches will be Architecture and Architoon sketches as well. To see the the influence one area has over another area in the last 40 years is a fascinating exploration into the mind of Tigerman and his architectural output.
Biography of Speaker/Presenter:
A principal in the Chicago architectural and design firm of Tigerman McCurry and a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, Stanley Tigerman has thus far designed over 450 buildings and installations around the world throughout his 51 years in private practice. He was the founding member of “The Chicago Seven” as well as the Chicago Architectural Club. In 2008, Mr. Tigerman was named the recipient of the AIA/ACSA Topaz Medallion for Excellence in Architectural Education as well as the AIA Illinois Gold Medal in recognition of outstanding lifetime service. This year, Stanley Tigerman was honored by AIA Chicago with the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award. The author of seven books, he recently completed an essay on “erring” for Perspecta, Yale Architecture School’s journal due out in the fall and is currently working on his next manuscript on “Aura: Unattainable Architectural Longings.”
