In his Sonic Incantation, Santa Lucia will use the altars designed for his intervention "No Place Like House" to guide viewers through a central ritual of Miesian Mysticism. The performance will activate the altars within the house to bring viewers/listeners to a new understanding of the McCormick House, not didactically, but emotionally. Biography of Speaker/Presenter:
Andrew Santa Lucia is an Instructor of Architecture at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Illinois Institute of Technology. He graduated Florida International University, Miami with a BA in Architecture in 2008, and a M.ARCH in 2010, and received an MA in Design Criticism from University of Illinois at Chicago in 2012. He is the Co-Creative Director of AND/OR US, an architectural collaborative, which focuses on architecture, interior design, design-build contracting and speculative design projects. His site-specific installation "No Place Like House" is on view in the McCormick House from September 12 to November 29, 2015.
