Cognizant of the Festival’s theme, The State of the Art of Architecture, three emerging Irish practices, selected by curators Nathalie Weadick and Raymund Ryan, have been tasked to make an intervention – part installation, part exhibition – in the Chicago Design Museum. Minister Ged Nash, Minister of State at the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, will open New Horizon_architecture from Ireland, a critical constituent of Irish Design 2015, a year-long initiative backed by the Irish government exploring, promoting and celebrating Irish design throughout Ireland and internationally. The three practices are A2 Architects (Peter Carroll and Caomhán Murphy Leão), GKMP Architects (Grace Keeley and Michael Pike), and Ryan W. Kennihan Architects. They propose to construct a temporary mirrored canopy, to fabricate a generous communal table, and to present a selection of work from their offices in Dublin.
