As the new home to important collections of art and architectural history, black material culture, and house music, the Stony Island Arts Bank seeks to be a laboratory for new ideas about archival practice, material culture, and contemporary art. If you are interested in any of the above, join us for a weekly session of community cataloging. During the Chicago Architecture Biennial, catalogers will help to sort and organize the architecture-related holdings of Rebuild Foundation’s 35mm slide collection acquired from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, while discussing best practices for archive preservation, conservation, and activation with Rebuild staff, Arts Bank artists and archivists-in-residence. Sessions are free and open to the public, but space is limited so please rsvp at http://community-cataloging-with-rebuild.eventbrite.com.
