MAIO was founded in 2005 in Barcelona, and is led by Maria Charneco, Alfredo Lérida, Guillermo López, and Anna Puigjaner. The studio’s members combine professional activities with academic, research, and editorial pursuits. They are currently in charge of the magazine Quaderns d'Arquitectura i Urbanisme and teach at ETSAB and ETSAV schools in Barcelona. Recently, MAIO co-curated a Weekend Special at the 2014 Venice Architecture Biennale. The studio is currently working on a range of projects, including a new housing block in Barcelona.
