Hinterlands Urbanism and Landscape is a Chicago-based research and design office founded in 2014 by Conor O'Shea, who is currently visiting assistant professor at the IIT College of Architecture. Hinterlands’ recent projects include The Maumee Spit, a proposal to harness Toledo’s Maumee river to create a sediment economy, and Logistical Urbanism, a plan to recalibrate freight infrastructure to twenty-first-century Chicago.
